Photovoltaics

Ground-mounted, rooftop and floating photovoltaic plants: engineering, site delivery and commissioning under a full EPC model.

Elettrica System manages engineering, sizing, optimisation, construction, grid connection, commissioning and O&M. Switchboards and customer substations are manufactured directly at our facility.

Technical approach

A photovoltaic plant must be governed as electrical infrastructure, not as a simple module installation.

A PV plant is far more than an array of modules. It is an integrated electrical system comprising strings, inverters, switchboards, protection systems, connections, cable routes, monitoring and control logic. Every design choice affects yield, safety, maintenance and long-term availability.

Elettrica System’s engineering team develops the site study, plant sizing, layout, configuration, MV/LV integration and technical documentation. Our operational teams then retain direct responsibility throughout construction.

Elettrica System capabilities

A photovoltaic plant is an electrical infrastructure, not a collection of components.

In-house engineering

Layout, sizing, strings, inverters, protections, switchboards and grid connection are assessed as one system.

Complete site delivery

In-house personnel and equipment coordinate installation, cabling, civil works, substations and related activities.

Commissioning

Verification, as-built documentation and commissioning support an operational technical handover.

EPC scope

From installable potential to commissioning of a documented plant.

Study, design and sizing

Context analysis, installable capacity, field layout, string configuration, inverters, switchboards, protections, connection and operating criteria.

Technical plant optimisation

Assessment of shading, orientation, inclinations, cable routes, voltage drops, maintainability, safety and operating accessibility.

Plant construction

Installation and wiring of DC/AC sections, switchboard installation, connections, civil and building works, field checks, activity coordination and quality control with in-house personnel.

Testing, commissioning and maintenance

Functional tests, measurements, as-built documentation, start-up support, scheduled checks and interventions to keep the plant efficient.

Plant types

Three deployment contexts, one integrated engineering approach.

01

Ground-mounted PV

Utility-scale plants with attention to layout, cable ducts, substations, accessibility and maintenance.

02

Rooftop PV

Solutions on industrial and commercial roofs, integrated with structural constraints, safety, system routes and continuity of existing activities.

03

Floating PV

Floating plants where connections, protections, access, installation and maintenance require specific technical coordination.

04

Revamping and optimisations

Interventions on existing plants to improve reliability, yield, protections and operational continuity.

EPC control

A complete delivery chain connecting yield, constructability and future operation.

Site analysis, constraints and expected producibility Electrical design, layout and optimisation Switchboards, protections, connection and wiring Construction with in-house personnel, including all civil and building works Testing, as-built documentation, maintenance and operational support

The result is a clearly documented, verifiable and maintainable plant, designed to generate energy efficiently and remain reliable over time.

Frequently asked questions

The most common questions about an EPC photovoltaic project.

What does a photovoltaic project delivered by Elettrica System as EPC contractor include?

The EPC service covers design, procurement, civil and electrical works, installation, testing and commissioning. Elettrica System acts as the single point of contact through to turnkey handover, within the agreed contractual scope.

What types of photovoltaic plants does Elettrica System build?

Elettrica System builds utility-scale ground-mounted, rooftop and floating photovoltaic plants, with fixed structures or trackers. Projects may also include storage systems and O&M services.

Who manufactures the switchboards and customer substations for the plant?

LV/MV switchboards are designed, assembled and tested by Elettrica System. Customer substations are sized, supplied, installed and integrated into the photovoltaic plant using certified components.

What happens after the plant is commissioned?

After commissioning, monitoring, preventive and corrective maintenance and performance checks can be activated. The O&M service protects the plant's operational continuity, safety and yield.
